Flowers... are a proud assertion
that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844

My good friend, fellow writer and photographer Pete Poulsen and his wife Elaine
were our visitors in Denver this week and we had the good fortune to go with
them to the Denver Botanic Gardens.
There, despite the overcast and somewhat dreary weather, Pete captured
shot after shot of the glorious beauty of the gardens and proved once again
that flowers don’t care about a dismal day, they just naturally make each
day as beautiful as possible.
As Nobel literature winner Bertrand Russell once
noted, “The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to
grow sharper.” Thanks Pete. Your photos definitely have sharpened my view
of the writers' moments waiting to be discovered in the world around me.
