Into the unknown


In reading naturalist writer Wendell Berry’s essays, I found this great quote, which also seems like good descriptive prose for this “off the beaten path” scene we encountered while walking in the Flatirons near Boulder. 

Berry wrote:  “Always … when you leave familiar ground and step off alone into a new place there will be, along with the feelings of curiosity and excitement, a little nagging of dread.  Wondering, what might await me there?”

The creation of a writer’s moment.
