Finding Inspiration Everywhere

“Words have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. I find inspiration everywhere – in a person walking down the road, a comment made by a friend, watching my dog chase after a squirrel, anything that catches my attention and imagination.”  – Jayne Jaudon Ferrer

Born in Florida on March 8 (I’ve been unable to find the year), Ferrer lives in South Carolina and is the author of 5 books (4 of them poetry collections).  She hosts both a blog “The Comma Goddess Speaks” and a poetry website www.YourDailyPoem.com.   For Saturday’s Poem – from the April 29, 2017 posting on that website – here is Ferrer’s,

Morning comes and,
with it, headlines
blaring hate and carnage
and suffering and sadness
and depravity and duplicity
and defeat.
Turn off the TV.
Put down the paper.
Walk outside.
Give yourself up
to fresh air and sunlight,
to butterflies and birdsong,
to growing things and
grazing things and
Rise above,
be lifted up,
and hold on,
hold on.
